I am pleased to be able to confirm the Mazak Skills Matrix and Salary Bandings for 2024/25.
For those of you who have recently joined or are unfamiliar with the bandings, the Skills Matrix encapsulates the majority of roles across Production, HQ and Sales divisions.
Job roles have been created which fit into job families, with each role being defined and falling into a skill and pay band; some roles may cover more than one band. The aim of this was to ensure that there is an open and transparent structure for colleagues within the Company, and to offer a structure for new employees.
Furthermore, it allows for colleagues in different parts of the organisation to have their skills recognised and to apply an equitable pay structure across the board. It is important to reiterate that, in some instances, a move into a higher band or role can only take place if that role is vacant. For instance, if you were in a Project Engineer role, you could only move into the role of Senior Project Engineer if the business needs determine that there is an additional requirement for that role. However, developing the skills for a higher band or role could be encouraged in order to put yourself in the best possible position should a role become available.
365 Resourcing use the Mazak Skills Matrix with the intention that all new starters will be placed at the bottom of their pay band.
Within the 365 employee area, you will see the full Mazak Skills Matrix and Salary Bandings for the April ’24 – March ’25 period. The salary bands have increased by 3.8% in comparison to the April ’23 – March ’24 figures.
Therefore, should you be in the same band and perform at the same level as the previous year, you will be well positioned to secure a 3.8% increase. The roles continue to be divided into Skill Bands. For example, a Machining ‘Programmer/Setter/Operator’ across multiple machines will fall into Skill Band 07, whereas a ‘Sales Support Engineer’ falls within the Skill Band 07-08. An ‘Assembly Spindle Builder Level 3’ falls into Skill Band 06. A further example would be that a ‘Mantrol Welder’ falls into Band 07 and an ‘ND Service Administrator’ falls into Band 04-06. It is important to note that each colleague will be allocated to or reviewed against their role and skill band at the point of his/her appraisal.
The Mazak Skills Matrix has already evolved over the last couple of years and there is little doubt that it will continue to do so over time. We acknowledge that it may not be a perfect fit in every instance, but I am sure you will agree that this continues to be a good starting point. The matrix now allows all our colleagues the opportunity to plan a career progression that they can work towards throughout the Company should they choose to do so.
If you wish to view the Mazak Skills Matrix in detail then you should contact your team at Mazak or speak to the 365 team who will be able to email a copy of the document directly to the employee. (Excel will be needed to view)
Mazak are working on making this accessible online and we will communicate developments in due course.
