Our client, Yamazaki Mazak is a leading global manufacturing company based in Worcester. This is an excellent opportunity to work for a market leading Machine Tool manufacturer who have been at the forefront of the industry for many years.

Due to increased investment, our client now has a requirement for a Pre Build/ Sub Assembly Operative

Job Description

The role will involve various pre-build and sub-assembly tasks related to spindle build such as.

  • Precision measuring of spindle shafts and housings and selecting the correct bearings to fit.
  • Assembly of spindle shafts (KM, CAPTO, BT, BBT, HSK) to include the drawbar and spring-set assy. De-stressing the clamp unit where applicable and carrying out necessary checks.
  • Pre-balancing of spindle shafts to support assembly lines.
  • Electrical checks of stators (new and re-used/re-paired) to ensure of conformance to standard Mazak check sheets.
  • Supporting the store’s team in SSC with booking in shipments (new and re-worked) to ensure conformity to Mazak standards.
  • Pre-checking of Kanban items issued to each spindle repair.
  • On occasions flexibility would be required to help in other areas of SSC, for example, final assembly where spindles are prepared for final inspection and dispatch.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

  • Background in precision engineering.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated and good communication, attention to detail.
  • Organised, able to plan ahead and good ability to follow written procedures.

Desirable Criteria

  • Apprentice trained.
  • Good understanding of mechanical component drawings and assemblies.
  • Previous experience in spindle assy.
  • Good understanding of testing electrical motors and fault finding.
  • Previous experience with comparators, ring gauges, snap gauges and micrometers.
  • IT skills, and previous experience with Microsoft packages.

  • Working hours are Monday to Friday 8-15am to 16-30 pm with additional overtime when required and weekends when required,
  • Overtime is paid at Time 1/3 first 2 hours then Time 1/2 thereafter each day. Saturday is Time 1/2 and Sunday Double Time.
